Report 20th Jalsa Salana Guatemala

November 6th - 8th 2009

Respected Naseem Mahdi Sahib, who had been sent as Hazur´s representative began the proceedings of the Jalsa with his Friday sermon on the 6th of November by asking all the members to adopt humility in their worship and said that those who are humble in their worship could never be arrogant in their daily lives. In the second day´s address he reminded everyone of the blessings of Khilafat in an address that left a very deep impress on the audience. He had described in vivid detail the many bright signs that the world had witnessed whenever anyone stood up against the Khalifs of God ' focusing on the events surroinding the events of 1934, 1974 and 1984.

With the Grace and Mercy of Allah and with the prayers of Hazrat Khalifatul Masih V (ab) the 20th Jalsa Salana came ot a very successful conclusion at 3:30 pm, on November 8, 2009. Alhamdolillah, thum alhamdolillah.

The Message of Hazur (ab) was received by the Guatemala Jamaát and was read to the audience in the Final Session. In this message Jamaát Guatemala was told to devote their full energy to the worship of Allah and to devise plans to deliver the message of Ahmadiyyat to at least 10% of the people of Guatemala every year. Hazur (ab) prayed for the total success of the Jalsa and that God may bless all the participants.

The attendance on the last day was close to 100 and among them were many non-Ahmadi friends and distinguished guests. A group of four indigenous Guatemalans also came dressed in their full ceremonial clothes to participate in the Jalsa. Their leader addressed the audience to thank the Jamaát and promised to assist the Jamaát in the future.

Through the prayers of Hazur(ab), the weather changed to a beautiful sunny day on Sunday when a large number of guests were invited and outdoor arrangements were necesaary. It had been raining for the two previous days and it is raining again very forcefully tonight after the end of the Jalsa...all very faith inspiring for all of us.. Alhamdolillah.

Ameer Jamáat Guatemala Maulana Abdus Sattar Sahib deleivered a speech in the Opening Session on the Life of Muhammad (saw) in which he emphasized the great love he had for humanity and asked the memebers to study and follow his example. Also, in a second address on the second day he addressed the topic: An Ahmadis Responsibilities in the Light of The Teachings of the Promised Messiah (as).

Apart form the proceedings of the Jalsa main sessions, there were a total of three question and answer sessions that took place with the many members who had arrived from all parts of Guatemala. As a result, a total of three new baiaáts took place during the Jalsa. One of them was a lady who had been studying the Holy Quran for more than a year. Another was a young man who had previously been sent by the family to become a Christian priest. Similarly the son of one of the members, David Gonzalez who had met Hazur (ab) the previous year has also joined the Jamaát. alhamdolillah.

Mr. Munum Naeem Sahib, Chairman Humanity First, USA had also arrived from the US to participate in the Jalsa. His presentation in the concluding session was universally enjoyed and lauded by many of the guests. In the closing session of the Jalsa everyone listened to two inspiring addresses by local Guatemalan Ahmadis who had joined Islam'Ahmadiyyat recently. Mr. Dario Samayoa who hails from Quetzaltenango, said he had many questions regarding the Concept of God for which he found no satisfactory answers in Christianity. It was only when he was led by God to Ahmadiyyat that his soul found peace and a group of people whose motto is love for all hatred for none. Another new Ahmadi member Don Camelo from Huehuetenango, then spoke about his life and how despite being a senior church official never found God till he walked out of the doors of the church and was led to Ahmadiyyat. He said last night I heard the speech regarding the blessings of Khilafat and saw how all opposition to God is futile and the best thing is to befriend God.

The audience listened with rapt attention also to the closing speech of Maulana Naseem Mahdi Sahib on the subject of the Concept of God presented by the Holy Quran. He spoke on just the description of Allah´s attribute of Creator and illustrated how amazingly and in how great detail this concept was described in the Holy Quran, in terms which were in accord with the most recent scientific discoveries. He concluded that a man raised in a country in total darkness and himself unlettered could not possible have known all this without having received revelation from the Creator Himself.

Waseem Sayed from the US delivered two speeches during the Jalsa. In his first address he urged the members to spend in the way of Allah and to witness first hand the growth and abundance of bounties that such people are bestowed. In his second speech he described the 10 conditions of Baiaát in brief emphasizing the need for all of us to devote full attention to the worship of Allah through the five daily prayers and the recitation, understanding and pondering over the meaning of the Holy Quran. All other addresses in English were also translated by him during the Jalsa.

Also at the end add: In the end Ameer Jamaát Maulana Abdus Sattar Sahib said a word of thanks to all the participants and offered prayers for all and then led a silent prayer..

In general the whole environment was one of a typical Jalsa ...the members young and old, men and women were seen everywhere working with the same zeal and spirit that can be found in any Jamaát Jalsa the world over. One of the new Ahmadis who had signed the Baiaiat a day earlier could be seen on duty with the same dedication and sense of selfless sacrifice standing at the door the next day welcoming the guests of the Promised Messiah (as).
